10/9/2006 - CHP arrest car theft suspect

Lakeside, CHP arrested a man today on suspicion of auto theft after a short pursuit. According to the officers on scene units were conducting routine speed enforcement when the suspect failed to stop, the suspect crashed a short distance up the road where officers were able to apprehend him after a short struggle.


8/17/2006 - Fire destroys Kurdish Community Islamic Center

El Cajon, CA   A Third Alarm fire destroyed the "Kurdish Community Islamic Center"  near the 500 block of South Magnolia.  While no injuries were reported the value of the structure and its contents exceed $2- Million dollars.  The fire reported around 2 A.M. was fought by firefighters and mutual aid from several surrounding communities including La Mesa,San Miguel,East County, Lemon Grove, Santee, National City and San Diego City,  in all about 15 fire units and 45 firefighting personal were on scene.  The fire still under investigation at this time but has been rule "undetermined, but not suspicious."  San Diego Sheriff Bomb Arson, ATF, FBI all continue to assist it the investigation.

 


8/9/2006 - 850 Thousand dollar home up in flames
El Cajon, CA  A 2nd alarm fire destroyed an 850 thousand dollar home in the unincorporated area of El Cajon on Merritt Drive.  The fire department arrived with the home already fully involved but were able to save the garage and prevent the spread of the to the nearby homes and vegetation.  The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.

5/9/2006 - Washington Ave Fire

El Cajon, CA 1075 E Washington Ave fire fighters responded to several call of a house on fire. Upon the first in units arrival they found a fully involved abandon house. The fire presented with several exposure problems that the firefights from El Cajon and San Miguel keep form being damaged. Sheriffs bomb arson is investigating the fire, however several nearby residents stated the house was used by vagrants.

 


5/7/2006 - Wintergardens 2nd Alarm

Lakeside, CA An Early morning 2nd alarm fire on Wintergardens Blvd. in Lakeside guts an up and downstairs apartment displacing residents. One of three residents in the effected apartments was transported to UCSD for unknown injuries due to the fire, while nearly twenty five additional residents in nineteen other units were also displaced due to the incident. Fire fighters had extensive overhaul due to blown in insulation in a common attic space, Fire fighters from several nearby districts assisted in the fire fighting operations.
