House destroyed in early morning fire | 4/17/2005 San Diego, CA Shortly after 3 AM in the 4800 Block of Elsa Rd, San Diego fire department responded to reports of a fully involved structure fire. Minutes after arriving on scene during initial attack two fire fighters escaped without injury as they were blown back out he front door several feet as the rear of the structure collapsed. Thirty-five firefighters continued to work to extinguish hot spots and protect near by buildings and brush an hour after the first units arrived on scene due to the collapse of the structure impeding extinguishment efforts. The owners were not home at the time of the fire and the cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time, crews are expected to be on scene several hours for investigation and overhaul says Maurice Laque spokesman for San Diego fire rescue.
